Is this Heaven Dad? No, it's Iowa.

Shannon loves Iowa.  Everything about it.  I have never known anyone else with such a love for his original home.

I was thrift shopping, like always, and came across this vintage map of IA.  Scored it for a whopping 50 cents.  Bought a stencil to paint the letters, bought the frame, had the paint.  Wha lah!  Think outside the box when it comes to art, and what art is.   Art evokes a feeling.  I love that he loves IA.  He loves that he loves IA.

Project cost, $26.

The quote is from Bull Durham, in the corn fields of IA.  This movie was filmed down the road from his grandparents farm.

Have a Picnik.

If you haven't heard of Picnik, I am sharing with it with you today.  Now you know most all my secrets.  Picnik is a photo editing site to make your photos even better.  It is also cool to create new lives with your photos.  This photo has a 1960's filter on it.  I don't what is more beautiful, the photo or the abuela hermosa.

I love Gingers.

Found these lovelies today at a thrift store.  I have a few friends that will be sooo jealous.  You see, we are fans of a little known drink called the Moscow Mule.  Proper Libation Etiquette reflects that they shall be served in a copper mug.  Trust me, it is not the same without.    Here is the recipe as made famous (at least in KC) by Harry's Country Club.

  • 1 ounce vodka

  • 1 tsp. sugar syrup

  • Fresh lime juice

  • 1/2 cup ginger beer

  • 1 sprig fresh mint

  • 1 slice of lime

  • I found them for a delicious 69 cents each.  I just did an ebay search for them....they range from $15-20 for 2.  Score.

    Lunch Lady.

This is an old lunch lady stool...used to sit on while ringing up children's meals.  You should've seen her when I found her.  Tired, grey, aged from life, but ready for a change.  Red Lipstick-- or spray paint -- is just the make over she needed.    She's ready for another 40 years.

    Milk Glass 2.0

Found a new use for my collection that I used as centerpieces on the big day.  I planted Basil, Chive, Rosemary and Sage.  I am doing much more cooking lately...and not just Mac n Cheese.  Although maybe I should try Rosemary Infused Pasta de Frommage.

    Irish Blessings

I made St. Pat's cards for a couple LUCKY people.  I loved what I came up with.  I knew I wanted handmade, then just wandered through Hobby Lobby looking for inspiration.  There are so many awesome papers and stickers, just add imagination!  The vision of a red headed irish man didn't come to me until I got home.  I crack myself up.
